* * *
The idea of a work called "Blank Title", uses mostly painting as a technique to explore demonstrations, public gatherings or mass of people as a sociological phenomenon, without the links to specific historical, geographic or time-limited events, leaving the banners blank.
Blank Title and its message is individual to each observer, it's a symbolic call for expression of free opinion. Thus, this reproduction of a painting made by Yugoslav, more specifically, Croatian, painter Frane Delale, with the text erased and the replacement of the slogans through the act of painting, opens the space for an inner discourse within each viewer of the work, to rethink and to review our removing the context of the slognas carried by the demonstrators.
The power of nothingness, the power of emptiness or whiteness, offers the possibility of taking on several different contexts - by taking away their meaning, they get meaning.
This is a joint project with the History Museum of BiH, King’s College London and the University of the Arts London.

BLANK TITLE / 2016
Words, Objects, Alphabets (2012) švedskog umjetnika Felixa Gmelina oslikao više desetina filmskih isječaka s natpisima iz Hollis Framtonovog eksperimentalnog filma Zorns Lemma (1970).
Iako značajan i veliki dio umjetničke prakse Dženana Hadžihasanovića čine performansi i akcije u javnom prostoru, njegova primarna umjetnička priroda je slikarska. BLANK TITLE / 2016
Potential of the free speech
Focus of the Blank Title series is large format painting made of 35 pieces, carrying the same title as the exhibition.
Piece size over three meters from a distance looks like atmospheric shot from above, showing a large group of people. The characters are presented smaller, with their faces and bodies painted only as dots and lines. Surface of the picture is dominated by white bannerswich are held lifted by the characters. White, which at the same time symbolizes all possible and no concrete meanin, from compassion to ignorance, highlights the wide range of activities that protests today, rapidly spreading through mass and social media, can have on the global and local level. Question is can photos of protests that are coming to
us daily through media, cause sincere empathy or protests became pure formality, politically motivated and media staged farce?
Form of the image made out of 35 pieces is temporary and can be complemented at any moment.
With that, image is opened to all directions. Contrary to work Hands of time, Blank Title is not temporally and geographically limited, nor is it related to specific historical events. Each image is a fragment, a part of a unity, just as a unity is only current view complex social condition. Wittingly waiver captions on the banners, combined with white surfaces, achieves game within the
composition, light and shadow, clarity and diffusion and allows movement of the center of the image and new accentuation.
Blank Title is Hadzihasanovic conscious attempt to create a universal image of protests. Everyone is encouraged to recognize themselves and give their opinion. With open form of work the artist expresses his form of protest against the repression of social movements, which often ends up with their attenuation and persecution of protesters. Blank Title actually represents simbolic call for expression of free opinion.
To oppose to something is the basis of any form of discussions based on the argument and counterargument, every civilized debate, the public based on diversity of opinions, which is why we always negotiate and which requires from participans the acumen and ability to articulate.
Potential of that articulation Hadzihasanovic is formulating through the process of creating a painting that represents its way the presence and participation in relevant social issues. With his work he opens podium that is accessible at any time and which is calling for the exchange of opinions, through images or in direct conversation.“
